Bikepacking Thailand: Nakhon Sawan to Phitsanulok
Today I began the longest bike ride of my life, a 137 km ride, following a flat road from Nakhon Sawan to Phitsanulok. The route was straight and didn’t need any navigation, so I could put my head down and push out the miles!
I grabbed a coffee and met a Thai cyclist who told me of his travels cycling in the Naan District of Northern Thailand.
Thai people were once again amiable and kind. I stopped at a fruit stand where the sweet older lady offered me a whole stack of bananas for free!
The journey was extremely tough, and the heat rose to 34 degrees by the middle of the day- which meant stopping for a bowl of something spicy and delicious.
By 5 pm I began nearing Phitsanulok. Nearing my homestay I cycled over a large bridge, evidently struggling a few locals on motorbikes began cheering me on, as if I was in a Tour de France final sprint.
This evening I explored the town’s relaxed night markets, eating anything that looked delicious!
I love to explore areas seldom seen by foreigners. To witness how Thai people live here, although, the stares can be off-putting sometimes!
